Alternative Education Meetup

Hey!

Every first Saturday of the month I organize an Alternative Education Meetup here in Madeira. This time, on May 6th we’ll be meeting at Quinta Magnolia Park.

We held our first meeting in December with 5 families in the Cowork Funchal and decided that when the weather is warmer we’ll do something together outside so this Saturday will be the first outdoor gathering.

Each time we have been more people and we’re working on creating a strong community to not only make friends, exchange ideas and know what alternative education projects are available in the island but also to make a difference:

Our goal is to build a case to present to the president of Madeira. We have direct contact to him and will be able to speak with him about an agreement we’d like to come up with for families like us who want to offer our children an alternative education, free from curriculum and exams.

I can see more and more members joining our group (so far we’re 53 people in the Whatsapp chat). Not all of them come to the meetups but the demand for an alternative to ordinary schooling is big and on the rise.

To promote bonding and a stronger community feel we’ll play some games this Saturday. I’m looking forward to a fun time, meeting new people and seeing old friends. I also wish you and your family an awesome weekend!
