We need a community
Hey friends!
Yesterday Rob left to the Honeybadger Bitcoin Conference in Riga, Latvia because he´s going to present on stage and especially now that his book has been published it´s a great opportunity to get the word out and connect with like-minded and ´crazy-minded´ … that´s just a joke because his book is called MIND, DECENTRALISED - Becoming Masterless. It´s about how to step out of our mental hamster wheels which is something that most people on earth need to be free from their conditioning and ultimately truly happy.
I´m so proud! Rob´s been working hard every single day since I´ve met him 15 years ago to do exactly that. He´s got so much to share and has helped thousands of people around the world. Follow Rob on Twitter to find out where to buy his book.
The same day he flew to Latvia my good friend Annie and her two sons, my children´s best friends, left for China where they´ll stay for 6 months. We spent most of our time with them and they either played together during my BJJ classes or Rob looked after our daughters but now that it´s just me with the two I have to take them with me and do everything else with them as well as Bo is too small to be left alone with Lima for 2 hours or more.
In the taxi to the gym we spoke about who they would like to be with while I do my BJJ classes as I know that at some point they´re not going to want to come along because it´s 3-4 times a week for 1,5 hours plus travel time (as it´s in town I usually take advantage of being close to banks, shops and offices and get things sorted before or after which adds to their annoyances) We thought hard and the only other family/friends they would feel comfortable staying with lives a 30min drive away in the opposite direction and we don´t have a car at the moment so that´s not an option either.
I then realized that if we lived on the APTB premises I wouldn´t have this problem. I could easily leave home because they´d be many other close friends who would watch out for and attend to my kids if they needed anything while I´m away, the same way I would look after their children.
Besides, as I´m planning to teach BJJ at APTB next year I wouldn´t be away as much anyway.
So there I was, being met with the fact that we don´t really have a community around us. We know many people, like them and meet, speak to them but that´s not the same as living in a neighborhood where kids can just run outside their homes, play with other children and have adults around to ask questions or for help. That was one reason why I started building APTB. It was also for ME. To have more freedom. This freedom thing is just EVERYWHERE!!
It´s not that I´d like to be away from my kids more but I would like to be able to go away without them having to compromise. The APTB setting gives the whole family more freedom. All 3, 4 or 5 family members want to do something different? It´s way easier when you have the community on you doorstep and don´t even have to drive your kids to a place to be looked after or hire someone while you do what you want/need to do.
Oh man, I can´t wait to live at APTB, have friends as neighbors, meet new families all the time, see the kids thrive in this free environment and just enjoy myself!
What do you look forward to when thinking of APTB being open and sharing the space with us and many other like-minded families? I´d love to hear your thoughts.
