7 terraces and a car
Hey there!
Last week I met with Miguel (the son of the owner of the building company that we hired to clear our land), Carlos (our organic farmer), Joaquim (the topographer), Alex and Borges (the digger driver) to speak about the project plan.
In my last update I mentioned that we’ll use Miguel’s topographer instead of our architect’s (Wojtek) topographer.
Well, it turns out - coincidences-don’t-exist-alarm! - Miguel’s and Wojtek’s topographer is THE SAME PERSON!
Joaquim - a topographer with a great reputation!
Meant to be… ;-)
We had been waiting for a machine that would grind down trees and bushes but the day of our meeting we decided to not wait any longer and let the digger driver Borges do what he does best: push over tress and bushes in the way.
The day before yesterday I went to the land on my own and filmed what Borges had done in the last 5 days. Here’s the video:
Borges is an awesome person and worker! He loves his job and spends 11 hours from Monday to Saturday in the digger.
That day I also asked the land seller to come and take me to the place where the road ends that he intended to build all around the entire plot but never got around to finish it. There’s about 1 kilometer missing but now I know where the two roads end and where we’ll get Borges to complete the work to have a pathway all around the land to walk, run, ride or drive along.
We bought a pick up truck
Last week Alex and I went to see a used Nissan pick up truck in Calheta. We hired a mechanic to check it through and tell us how much it would cost to do it up.
It was worth it….
The next day I negotiated a good price with the seller and we bought it. I got it down from 9500 to 6500Euros. Now the mechanic is working on getting it fixed and on Monday it’ll be good to go. Then we’ll give it a proper try on the land.
With the truck we want to take lots of pallets up that we have at different locations ready to be picked up and used for our projects: chicken coop, benches, tables, fences and more.
We also want to take the 3 bell tents up that I bought in February to spend a few nights on the land.

Our kids love to drive in the back
